Fabled Bean is a family-owned, small-batch specialty coffee roaster based in Cobourg, Ontario.

We focus on sourcing quality beans and roasting them in a way that allows each origin to keep its own character. Rather than roasting every coffee the same way, we adjust our approach based on the bean, processing method and the flavour profile we want to bring forward.

Fabled Bean coffee is roasted by us locally in Cobourg.

We roast throughout the week in small batches rather than relying on large quantities of pre-roasted inventory. 

That means the coffee you purchase spends less time sitting on a shelf and more time doing what it should be doing: making a great cup of coffee.

Why Air Roasting?

Our electric fluid-bed roasting system uses hot air to roast coffee, keeping the beans moving continuously in a stream of heated air throughout the roast.

The result is a clean-tasting cup that allows the natural characteristics of each coffee bean to come through clearly.

We use the technology as a tool, but the decisions behind every roast are still made by us. Each coffee is given a specific roast profile designed to bring out the qualities we want to highlight in the cup.

Coffee is agricultural. Every origin is influenced by the region it comes from, the people who grow it, the coffee variety, elevation, climate and processing method.

Every coffee has a story before it ever reaches our roaster. Our job is to roast it in a way that respects the work behind it and gives you the opportunity to taste some of what makes that coffee unique.
